Julieann,
You bring up some terrific points. Your family can provide such incredible support in your job search. A shoulder to cry on. An interview to celebrate! You're suggestion of "if I share some disappointment, consider it an open door to uplift!" is a fantastic one!
Thanks for bringing it up!

Molly,

I agree wholeheartedly with what you say. I hope at some point you will also write about family efforts that are actually helpful.

It might be 'proof this resume/ letter/ whatever'. Or reassure me when I am agonizing over which networking opportunity to attend, that I will make the right choice and that I don't have to be in two (or four) places at the same time to be doing my job-search job. Or whatever anxiety each of us develops at different stages.

And then, family member, when you have read the resume, say something encouraging. In fact, encouraging words are excellent help. Anytime I report progress, share an exciting idea, and so on - this is the time. Or if I share some disappointment, consider it an open door to uplift!

Aside from the obvious financial discomfort of the job search, there is also the challenge of staying positive. Which you did write about Molly. Thank you.
