Hey Kent,
I've taken the Kolbe assessment, but I found more day-to-day value out of Emergenetics. Even if someone doesn't take the profile, I can get some clues as to how to interact with them.

And yes, not sure what's up with the 4-quadrant concept. Maybe one did it, and everyone else followed. Who knows!

Tejas.
You bring up a good point. Sometimes cultural differences will suggest you might take a modified approach. However, that being said, don't forget that people are people and relationships are relationships no matter where you live. Having traveled to many different parts of the world, I find that it's virtually always about people connecting and engaging in conversation. It might be interesting for you to test some unorthodox methods and see what type of success you have. If you never try, you'll never know!

Hello Molly,

I came across your blog from one of the linked in discussions. Your comments are very positive, but the methods which you have mentioned may not work all the time , especially directly getting in touch with the hiring manager.

Perhaps they may work in US, not sure it does here in India.

Please do not consider this as any kind of criticism.

Regards,
Tejas

Nora,
Thanks for the reply!!! Excellent insights! Yes, I'm a 3rd third Expressive (with plenty of Blue!).

I actually took 24 job seekers through an Emergenetics workshop - and most all landed within 90 days. It was truly amazing!!!

Greetings Molly,

Great post! Another Emergenetics attribute that may come into play in the scenario with Mark is the behavioral preference of assertiveness ---- Is he a first third assertive who gets energy from keeping the peace......thus not wanting to ruffle feathers by going outside the set parameters? A third-third assertive (who gets more energy in the driving/telling approach) may be more likely to try another method even with a structured thinking preference.

The combinations of thinking and behavioral attributes show themselves so differently!

The fact that you were talking with the guy sitting next to you on the plane suggest that you're probably not a first third expressive --- although you very well could be and have a dominant thinking preference of Analytical that realized there may be a business connection to be made.

Thanks for the post --- got me really thinking about how different thinking and behavioral preferences (ala Emergenetics) may approach their job search!

Wishing you many Insightful Endeavors!
